Established in 2003 by Emaar and masterplanned by HOK Canada, Dubai Marina covers 4.9 sq km around a 3 km artificial canal cut inland from the Gulf, designed to house over 120,000 people. Anchors include Dubai Marina Mall with 140 outlets, the 1.7 km Walk at JBR and the twisting Cayan Tower. Two Red Line metro stations, Sobha Realty and DMCC, both interchange with the Dubai Tram, which opened in November 2014.
